🗾☕️ The sleeve fitted to the paper-cup-shaped mug in the JIMOTO made Series “#KoshuIndenSleevedCup 296ml” was jointly developed by Starbucks and Inden Yamamoto, a long-established workshop in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, that carries on traditional techniques 😊🤝   Koshu Inden normally uses deerskin dyed in a variety of colors, but this sleeve features “#URUSHINASHIKA,” Japan’s first pure-white Inden series. A special processing technique brings out the material’s natural color, and lacquer is used to apply patterns to the white deerskin 🎨   The patterns are applied to the material using Ise katagami stencils made from Mino washi paper. Lacquer is placed on the stencil, then a spatula is pushed firmly from back to front ⏬   The lacquered deerskin is dried in a special, highly humid chamber known as a muro, creating the three-dimensional, textured feel characteristic of Inden. The plump coffee-bean and Fuji cherry blossom motifs also lend the design an endearing quality ☕🗻🌸 Yusuke Yamamoto of Inden Yamamoto, who was involved in the joint development, is exploring new possibilities for Koshu Inden while responding to the diverse needs of businesses and consumers.
