Japan Rewards membership exceeds 20 million; provisional app members can order before registering

Starbucks Japan announced that Rewards membership has exceeded 20 million, reaching 20.7 million at the end of August 2026. Provisional app membership became available on September 9, with promotion in stores and across channels from September 17. After downloading the app, customers can use features such as Mobile Order & Pay without first registering for My Starbucks. Mobile ordering has supported PayPay since August 18, including for provisional members; PayPay and Apple Pay payments do not earn Stars. A first-time participation campaign running from September 9 to November 1 offers a JPY 100 discount eTicket, with exceptions to eligibility and purchase requirements. Full registration is required to redeem Star benefits, carry over balance information or access balance compensation. Provisional membership information is tied to the original device and cannot be transferred to another device.
